Our Pathologists
“I love how pathology collaborates so closely with clinical, surgical, and imaging colleagues to provide valuable diagnostic information. We're often behind the scenes, but the testing we oversee guides everyday clinical decision making."
Monica Butcher, M.D.
Dr. Monica Butcher is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and has completed subspecialty fellowship training in breast pathology.
Dr. Butcher was born and raised in Gainesville, FL where she attended the University of Florida and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences followed by her medical degree with honors for academic excellence. She then completed a combined anatomic and clinical pathology residency at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. After residency, Dr. Butcher completed an advanced specialty training program (fellowship) in breast pathology at Northwestern Medicine Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, IL. During her medical training, Dr. Butcher co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, presented at national conferences, and was involved in several education projects.
Dr. Butcher entered medical school with plans to pursue internal medicine, however several experiences during clinical rotations opened her eyes to pathology and laboratory medicine. “I love how pathology collaborates so closely with clinical, surgical, and imaging colleagues to provide valuable diagnostic information. We're often behind the scenes, but the testing we oversee guides everyday clinical decision making."
In her spare time, Dr. Butcher enjoys spending time with her husband, baking cookies, painting, and putting together jigsaw puzzles.
